Windmill Hills is the first stage in Autumn Heights from Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. It is preceded by Big Top Bop and followed by Mountain Mania.

 Overview[]

This level has many moving platforms comprised of windmills. There is a new variety of enemies and the introduction of new Snowmads, along with leaves that must be rolled into to be blown away.

Walkthrough[]

Upon hurtling in, the Kongs encounter a Cheesy Chester and a Hootz along with a Kong Barrel featuring Dixie Kong. There are more Hootzes and Cheesy Chesters after this, with one being between two windmills, along with another Hootz and a Puffton and some Tucks on a windmill. The first checkpoint is after this with a Schnautzel and another Hootz, along with a set of windmills with some Hootzes in between the second and third, and the third having a Puffton in the middle of the axis. After the set is a leaf pile that reveals a Cheesy Chester. There is also a platform that collapses when atop of for too long, but has an Extra Life Balloon floating above it (Cranky Kong’s crane bounce or Dixie Kong’s hair flutter jump must be used to get this). There is then a Barrel Cannon after this that launches the Kongs along the drapes of windmills and a mini-game that requires the Kongs to collect all of the Bananas to get two Extra Life Balloons, with the second checkpoint being after. A Cheesy Chester and a pulling plug are after this, along with a Kong Barrel and another Schnautzel. There is then an entrance to a housewhich is occupied by a Tuff Tuck and a Pointy Tuck, with a variety of Tucks as well as many shifting platforms and bouncy platforms with a Barrel Cannon at the top which shoots the Kongs to a zip-line platform that breaks when it reaches the end of its trip. After this are more shaky platforms and a windmill with bells on it. There are then tons of collapsing platforms inhabited by Hootzes and Tucks after this, along with windmills also having collapsing platforms. After this is another Hootz and a platform that instantly breaks when the Kongs land on it, which leads them into a Barrel Cannon.

K-O-N-G Letters[]

  • K - On top of a Hootz flying left and right between two windmills.
  • O - The second shifty platform to the right in the middle.
  • N - On a collapsing platform after the windmill with bells.
  • G - After the second Barrel Cannon in the launch section after the platform that snaps when the Kongs land on it.

Puzzle Pieces[]

  1. At the very start, there is a blockaded house. Throw a Barrel at it to enter to get into the Bonus Stage.
  2. Collect all of the Bananas on the second windmill. They will spawn in per platform after the Kongs collect all of them on one platform.
  3. Defeat all the Tucks where they first spawn on the windmill.
  4. Before the Schnautzel is a keg that needs to be ground-pounded to open. Defeat the Schnautzel and collect all of the Bananas to collect this Puzzle Piece.
  5. After the Schnautzel after the second checkpoint is a sack. Throw the Diddy Kong Barrel at it to reveal the Puzzle Piece.
  6. Underneath the platform before the house. Uncover the Puzzle Piece by pulling on a plug.
  7. In the house there is an area with no door that when entered leads to another Bonus Stage.
  8. Hit every bell on the windmill to get the Puzzle Piece spawn in the middle of the windmill.
  9. After the G when a windmill swoops down one of its arms.
