Tree Top Bop is the third level in the games Donkey Kong Country Returns and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, as well the third level in the Jungle world of Donkey Kong Island. It is preceded by King of Cling and followed by Sunset Shore.

This is Rambi the Rhinoceros' first appearance in a level in both games. The Animal Buddy can easily defeat most of enemies and destroy obstacles. The level has many Hopgoons, Frogoons and Awks as enemies, and also many tilting tree platforms and tilting stone platforms by weight.

The level begins in the depths of the jungle where it is darker than other jungle areas found previously. An Awk is between two fallen stone pillars here, and some spikes are right after it. Above the spikes is a small platform with another Awk on it. There is a raised piece of land nearby as well that the Kongs can jump over to find two Awks and a Tiki Doom in front of a tilting tree with bananas on it. More tilting trees are just ahead that can be used to aid the primates in reaching a barrel cannon. Below the treetops are some more spikes and a DK Barrel. On ground level, on the edge of a pit, if the Kongs roll-jump over the obstacle, they will reach a platform with the first Puzzle Piece floating above. Going back and after reaching the barrel cannon over the tilting trees, the barrel will start to move horizontally. The Kongs can shoot to collect the letter "K" and to another barrel cannon. The next barrel shoots the heroes to more autofire barrels, which then send them to the treetops with a long line of bananas.

Here, there are larger tilting trees that area infested with Hopgoons. The last two platforms are a little smaller than the previous in this area, but they lead to a barrel cannon that can shoot the primates over a wide abyss. On the other side of the abyss, there is a set of three elevated platforms above a group of spikes, each with an Awk on it. Some dandelions also grow next to the spikes to give the Kongs collectibles if blown on. Near them, there is a area with some stone statues nearby and Frogoons on them. A fallen stone pillar is located between them that can be used to reach the letter "O". After passing a pile of spikes, the primates come up to the Tutorial Pig with the checkpoint.

The primates must jump over another stone pillar after the checkpoint. If they pound on the flat platform on the ground just before it, they can find an underground area with Rambi the Rhinoceros' animal crate and some large stone blocks with Rambi's face on them. If the Kongs are underground here, they can shoot back above the trees by using a barrel cannon. Going back to the left until the section with three elevated platforms and Awks, Rambi can smash through the spikes below and ground-pound a stone block to reach a Bonus Room. There, the primates must collect all seventy-eight bananas and two Banana Coins within thirty seconds to reveal the second Puzzle Piece.

After the Bonus Room and farther ahead, there is a long group of spikes with a tilting platform above it. Rambi can also smash through these spikes or the Kongs alone can climb up the platform to reach the platform in the center of the area. This platform does not tilt, but it has a Tiki Doom and two Awks on it. If the heroes use Rambi to destroy the stone blocks below the platform, the third Puzzle Piece will appear. Above this platform is a smaller platform with a DK Barrel that can be reached by jumping on the Tiki Doom. Another tilting platform is above these spikes for the primates and it can help them reach another tilting platform in the treetops. A tilting tree is near it, but it is too high to reach easily, so they must tilt the platform up to make the jump. More tilting trees are farther ahead, and two floating Frogoons are between a few of them, with the letter "N" right above the enemies. A heart can be found on the final tree, along with a Flaming Tiki Buzz floating next to it.

When the Kongs reach solid ground again, they come up to a Frogoon standing on a few stone structures, some spikes and a tilting tree. If the primates use Rambi to charge through the spikes and the stone blocks, they will find another Bonus Room. In the room, the heroes must use barrel cannons to collect all sixty-five bananas, three Banana Coins and an Extra Life Balloon within thirty seconds and make the fourth Puzzle Piece to appear. After the Bonus Room, the Kongs must go to the left and to find the letter "G" and some banana bunches above three floating Frogoons. The primates can use these Frogoons or the elevated platforms with an Awk to collect the letter and the bananas. Moving forward, there is a series of elevated platforms with the Slot Machine Barrel right above them. Ignoring the barrel and using Rambi to charge towards a stone block all the way to right, the heroes will find a hidden area with the fifth and final Puzzle Piece and many banana bunches. If the primates go back and hit the Slot Machine Barrel, they will complete the level.

Animal Buddies[]

Just past the checkpoint, pound on a flat platform on the ground to drop into a secret area containing Rambi the Rhinoceros's animal crate. The crate needs to be pounded on to open.

  • Hearts: 3
  • DK Barrels: 2
  • Banana Coins: 13 (counts 2 in the first Bonus Room and 3 in the second Bonus Room, does not count three or more consecutive jumps on enemies)
  • Extra Life Balloons: 1 (counts 1 in the second Bonus Room, does not count eight or more consecutive jumps on enemies)

K-O-N-G Letters[]

  • K: When the Kongs enter the first barrel cannon, it moves in a horizontal path under the letter "K" and another barrel cannon. The primates can shoot to the letter "K" and then get in the same barrel again.
  • O: About midway through the level and before the checkpoint, the Kongs can find two stone structures with Frogoons on them. Between these is a fallen stone pillar with the letter "O" above it.
  • N: After the checkpoint, when the Kongs travel across several tilting tree platforms, they can find two floating Frogoons with the letter "N" above them. The Frogoons float in front of the letter, so the primates must jump on them when they move downwards or just defeat them and grab the letter afterwards.
  • G: Just before the exit to the second Bonus Room, the heroes can find three Frogoons jumping under the letter "G". They can bounce on the foes to reach the letter or simply climb up the elevated platforms nearby and jump to it.

Puzzle Pieces[]

  • 1: After the Kongs pass the first DK Barrel on the ground level, they can roll-jump off the ledge to reach a platform nearby with the Puzzle Piece.
  • 2: When the primates obtain Rambi, they must head backwards until they find a group of spikes under three platforms with Awks on them. If they crash through the spikes, they can find a gray block with Rambi's face on it. If the rhinoceros pounds on this, it breaks and reveals an opening into a Bonus Room. There, the Kongs must maneuver around many stationary platforms in order to collect seventy-eight bananas and two Banana Coins. Once all of the collectibles are collected within thirty seconds, a Puzzle Piece appears.
  • 3: After the primates exit the first Bonus Room, they come up to an area with a large group of spikes that can be crossed with some platforms. Instead of using the platforms, they must get on Rambi and smash through the spikes, heading into the stone blocks. Rambi can run through this blocks and smash it to reveal a Puzzle Piece on the above platform.
  • 4: After the letter "N" and the Kongs exit the area full of tilting trees, reaching to solid ground again, they must use Rambi to charge through the section of spikes and stone blocks. They will find an entrance to a Bonus Room. In this room, the heroes must shoot through a few barrel cannons that constantly change angles when entered to collect sixty-five bananas, three Banana Coins and an Extra Life Balloon. If they collect everything within thirty seconds, the Puzzle Piece appears between the barrels to get it.
  • 5: Before the Kongs hit the Slot Machine Barrel, they must run along a trail of bananas below it and smash into a stone block at the end. They can find a hidden alcove here with many banana bunches and the Puzzle Piece.

The puzzle of Tree Top Bop is of a strawberry on a light green background. When all the pieces are found, the Jungle Waterfalls artwork will be added to the Worlds Gallery of the Image Gallery in the Extras menu.
