TikiBoing

Tiki Boings are enemies that are part of the Tiki Tak Tribe, found in Donkey Kong Country Returns. They bounce in order to move and head towards Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong, in an attempt to hit them with the spikes on their sides. In order to defeat them, Donkey Kong or Diddy Kong can jump on them or roll into them. They first appear throughout the Forest levels, with one or two exceptions appearing in the Cave temple level, Jagged Jewels. Their final appearance in the game is in the Cliff level, Tippy Shippy. They can be temporarily knocked out by using a ground pound.

Appearance

They resemble most other Tikis, except they are divided into different segments, like the Tiki Seeker. They have three feathers hanging down on each side of their head. The top two segments of their body form a mouth. Their eyelids take on a form of a sort of hexagon-like shape, if they are holding their eyes closed. They also have red leaves on the side of their heads, probably used for decoratio.

Trivia

  • In the official artwork, the Tiki Boing are given arms but when encountered in-game, they do not have any.
  • If a roll is used on them, as they fly off-screen, they will make the same sound a Tiki Buzz makes when hit by a barrel.
  • There is concept art for an ‘Early Lava Tiki’ that looks very similar to the Tiki Boing.
