Paon is a private Japanese video game company that handled a few of Donkey Kong series games. The company took over for Rare in developing DK games after Microsoft acquired Rare during the fifth console generation. Paon has so far developed three Donkey Kong games. Later, Retro Studios took over in the next few years to develop the newer Donkey Kong Country series of games.
