Kackle's living appearance is unknown, but he is only visible as his yellowish Kritter skeleton, white teeth & red eyes. His outfit is a blue/green/yellow/red bandana with white polka dots, an eyepatch with a human Jolly Roger on the left side, a dark brown belt with a golden buckle and a hanging sword.

History

This Kritter who was a old pirate veteran lived in the time of the Kremling Kuthroats in Crocodile Isle, until his death along with Kloak and pirate Kritters.[2] Kackle resided in a house on town alive and owned a galleon that was wrecked in Krem Quay after his death.[4][5][6][3] Kackle in his last moments (along with Kloak and pirate Kritters) participated in Kremean War against Bazooka with his squad until he was killed along with his crew, except his crew member K. Rool who survived.[3]

As ghost in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, Kackle starts chasing the Diddy & Dixie they enter on his house. During the chase, a timer appears at the top of the screen where is affected by Plus and Minus Barrels. Kackle has disadvantages with the Plus Barrel, but he has an advantage with the Minus Barrel. He launches an unavoidable attack when the time runs out.

In Donkey Kong 64 named Resident Demon, Kackle appears on ghost train from Creepy Castle.[1] He came with a sequence of attacks against DK in mine cart ride with hand slam, summoning flaming skulls and swipe for DK to lose 3 more coins.

"This mean-spirited spooks are on the lookout for any hairy intruders into their domain! Kackle haunts the Kremland amusement park, while Kloak fades in and out of several diferent areas. Dealing while Kloak is especially frustating, since he sometimes conjures up Zingers to block paths or items."

Trivia

  • The name is pun from Cackle.
  • Mr. X is an undead Kremling who was set to appear in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. He did not appear in the final game at all, only to have a cameo in the German instruction booklet of DKC2, and also appeared in Nintendo Power 76.
  • It has been confirmed by Steve Mayles that Mr. X and Kackle are the same character.[7]
    • The name "Mr. X" was most likely a mere placeholder for the planned name, but this was not confirmed.
  • In the Game Boy Advance remake of Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, Kackle in the game wear the same bandanna color, blue. In the Super Nintendo Entertainment System version of the game Kackle wear either a blue, green, yellow or red bandanna.
  • They are one of the few enemies to not appear in Donkey Kong Land 2, but Kackle has a reason in specific; the Game Boy was not able to support his sprite. Thus Haunted Hall, their residence, has been replaced with Krazy Koaster.
