Mario Tennis, also known as Mario Tennis GB in some regions, is a tennis game developed by Camelot Software Planning[1] and released for the Game Boy Color by Nintendo in 2000. It is the second game in the Mario Tennis series.
The game was re-released on the Nintendo 3DS via the Virtual Console in Japan on June 26, 2013, in North America on December 26, 2013, and in Europe on January 2, 2014.

The game has few initial playable characters, but many ones can be unlocked later. This version also possesses many original characters, including male and female upgradable characters. Similar to Mario Tennis for Nintendo 64, most of the characters have a special trait used in gameplay.

Transfering data between the Game Boy Color and Nintendo 64 versions[]
The playable characters Yoshi, Wario, Waluigi and Bowser can only be unlocked by transfering data between the Game Boy Color and Nintendo 64 versions of Mario Tennis via a Transfer Pak[5].
A few characters only available in the Nintendo 64 version, including Donkey Kong Jr., make cameos in this version as status icons for the data transference.

- Because of the Game Boy Color's limited color palette, Donkey Kong's fur color is purple/pink in the game.
