Mario Kart: Double Dash!! is a go kart racing game and the fourth one in the Mario Kart series. It came out in 2003 for the Nintendo GameCube.

- In some point during the development, Donkey Kong Jr. was considered to appear in the game as a playable racer. But later the character was replaced by Diddy Kong.
- It is the first game to feature Diddy Kong as a racer in the Mario Kart series. The second game is Mario Kart Wii. Diddy would also reappear in Mario Kart Tour.
- Developers considered to use barrels as special items, exclusive character items, for Donkey and Diddy Kong, to reference the original Donkey Kong game, where Donkey Kong would throw barrels. But in the final game, they give the Giant Banana Peel to both Kongs.
