Light Barrel

The uncommon barrels dubbed Light Barrels are used for illuminating environments temporarily in the game Donkey Kong Land 2.

Overview

Light Barrels are found only in the stage Glimmer's Galleon of the world Krem Cauldron. As soon as the Kongs touch these barrels, they will light up the location, allowing the player see the environment of the underwater stage. However, the Light Barrels will work for only a few instants, forcing the player to progress through the stage quickly and find the next barrel. Many barrels are scattered around the stage, and the lamp icon on them will blink when they are active. Some of these barrels will stay active for longer than other ones. And, despite the darkness in the stage, it is still possible to see the main characters, enemies and objects, such as trails of bananas which can lead the primates towards a Light Barrel.

Trivia

• Light Barrels are a replacement for Glimmer the Anglerfish who does not appear in the game Donkey Kong Land 2 at all. In the game Donkey Kong Country 2, the Animal Buddy can be found only in the stage Glimmer's Galleon of the world Krem Quay, where Glimmer uses a lantern on his stalk to light the underwater path forward for Diddy and Dixie Kong.
• On & Off Barrels, from the game Donkey Kong Country, are very similar to Light Barrels, with both types being found only in a single stage and illuminating environments of their respective locations temporarily.
