Not to be confused with Kutlass from the game Donkey Kong Country 2

"According to Section 3 paragraph 4 of the Pirate Handbook. "Any and all treasure acquired by ill-gotten means shall and will be systematically buried", sir."
Kutlass in the episode "Ape-Nesia" from the Donkey Kong Country animated series.

Kutlass was a shipmate of Kaptain Skurvy and recurring antagonist in the Donkey Kong Country animated series.

Overview

Despite Kutlass being Kaptain Skurvy's minion, he did not appear as much as his captain in the animated series. In the episodes Kutlass did appear in, he was usually scheming and making plans to steal the Crystal Coconut with Kaptain Skurvy and his shipmate Green Kroc. He was also one of the main antagonists during the episode "Legend of the Crystal Coconut". Kutlass can be considered Skurvy's counterpart to King K. Rool's bodyguard, Krusha, in the same series.

Kutlass' physical appearance resembles King K. Rool's body-type, also from the animated series, but with a lighter scale tone. He also wears a pirate hat and a black neckerchief.

In the English version of the Donkey Kong Country animated series, Kutlass is voiced by John Stocker in a distinctive Italian accent.

Trivia

  • In the game Donkey Kong Country 2, there is a enemy also called Kutlass, a small Kremling wearing a black vest and a pirate hat, and carrying two large swords. However, the game enemy and the character from the Donkey Kong Country animated series do not resemble each other all.
  • Similar to his Donkey Kong Country 2's game counterpart, Kutlass' name is also based on the cutlass[1], a sword weapon commonly used by pirates.
