The Knautilus is Baron K. Roolenstein's secret submarine docked inside the secret world Krematoa in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!. It is a fish-shaped submarine where K. Rool hides after his defeat in KAOS Kore. The sub is accessed by beating all Krematoa levels and giving all the cogs to Boomer. With all the Cogs, Boomer will use them to activate the machine, which causes Krematoa to return to volcanic activity and reveal the submarine.
Dixie and Kiddy Kong can then enter the machine to find Baron K. Roolenstein, and have a final showdown. The Kongs enter via the top, where it drops down to an odd conveyor belt area with electrical machines on both sides and a fire cannonball inside. Baron likely made this ahead of time, anticipating the Kong's arrival. Baron appears in the foreground controlling the belt and electrical machines. By successfully dodging his machines, a Steel Keg will appear and a vacuum will open up above. By throwing the Keg into the vacuum when Baron is in the right position on the other side, the Kongs will damage him.
The submarine itself makes an appearance in the intro and title screen of Donkey Kong Country 3's Game Boy Advance remake.
- "Knautilus" is a pun on the submarine Nautilus from novel "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea" and the movie "The Iron Giant".
