Klaptraps are Kremlings that originated in Donkey Kong Country. They are lizard-like creatures with large mouths (hence the name).
Description
The Klaptraps are quadrupeds, huge mouths with sharp teeths and four legs. The common Klaptraps' trademark is the yellow stripes on the back (except Donkey Kong 64).
They come with a variety of colors on their scales, as: blue, purple, green and red.
History
This subspecies is physically inferior to the Kremling species as shown in several games where they are trained by the dominant subspecies Kritters. Like most Kremlings, the Klaptrap subspecies originated on Crocodile Isle.
The Klaptraps have a mouth full of sharp teeths and it is with those teeths that they are quite invincible to Kongs front attacks. Purple Klaptraps that are more complicated to jump (only happens when DK and Diddy jump). But they can be defeated by trampling or hit by anything.
Several Klaptraps provided other types of service, for example: A purple served to drive K. Rool's Mobile Fortress Island, half of them were used by King K. Rool to not let his minions escape their duties and even a giant was held by the crocodilian dictator to punish them.[1][2]

Trivia
- Klaptraps, along with Gnawties Slippas and Armys are famously able to be avoided completely by riding Expresso over them on flat ground. This is due to his long legs: as long as Expresso's body does not touch the enemy, he is invulnerable to their attack.
