Hopgoons (ピョングーン, Pyongūn in Japan) are frog enemies that jump forward at regular intervals. They are found in the games Donkey Kong Country Returns and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D

Overview[]

Hopgoons are yellow variants of Frogoons, also frog enemies from the same games. Hopgoons are first seen in the Jungle level Tree Top Bop of the Donkey Kong Island, and they are common enemies in later Jungle world levels. They are most common in the level Sunset Shore. They are also seen later in the Forest level Muncher Marathon. Hopgoons' behavior is to move forward in one direction, staying still for a few seconds before jumping again. They are even willing to fall off platforms when moving. Hopgoons are susceptible to be temporarily stunned by the ground-pound move. However, as opposed to their Frogoon counterparts, the peanuts shot by Diddy Kong's Peanut Popguns can only stun Hopgoons, instead of defeat them upon contact. These enemies can be easily defeated by the Kongs using single jump or roll attacks. Hopgoons can also be disposed on the spot by the primates throwing barrels at them.

Physical Appearance[]

Hopgoons are yellow, opposed to green, with teal colored eyes. They also have a smug looking face, along with a lazy looking eyeshadow.
