Green Chomps, also known as Shroom Chomps, are green carnivore plants related to other Chomp types in the games Donkey Kong Country Returns and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D. They are enemies disguised as regular bouncy platforms and are capable of swallowing the Kongs entirely.

Overview[]

Green Chomps appear in the Forest levels Longshot Launch, Springy Spores and Wigglevine Wonders of the Donkey Kong Island. This enemy type keeps its mouth open and displays a red protuberance of a tongue, trying to disguise it as a small mushroom. At some occasions, the primates must use the protuberance as a bouncy platform in order to reach high places. Unlike other enemies in both games, any direct contact with Green Chomps does harm the Kongs immediately. After the heroes touching any part of these enemies' bodies, the Green Chomps will quickly close and re-open their mouths once, trying to swallow the primates. If the heroes end swallowed by a Green Chomp after failing to land on the red protuberance, they can still get away without being hurt by quickly pounding the plant (by shaking the Wii Remote[1] (and Nunchuk) in the Nintendo Wii version of the game or pressing the "X" and "Y" buttons in the Nintendo 3DS version). These enemies cannot be harmed by any means.

Physical Appearance[]

Green Chomps are green, have three leaves protruding from their "stumps". They also have yellow dots over their bodies. Each of them have four teeth, with two on each side from their tongues. Their tongues have a mushroom-like shape, and they are mostly red, but are also yellow.
