The Cave is the fourth world of Donkey Kong Island in the games Donkey Kong Country Returns and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, with seven levels. The boss of this world is Mole Miner Max, and the Tiki Tak Tribe leader of this world is Banjo Bottom.

Description[]
As the name suggests, this world takes place in a dark, treacherous cave. It is plagued by Mole Guards, who cause tremendous damage to the caves while trying to stop the Kongs. The Cave levels are centered around mine cart vehicles. There are two types of mine cart levels. In the first type, the Kongs must ride multiple loaded mine carts to traverse the level and jump between the vehicles using good timing. In the second type, the primates use a single empty mine cart during the entire level, and sometimes must avoid obstacles just by ducking and jumping.
In Rickety Rails, Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong ride mine carts going through suddenly falling and tilting tracks. In Grip 'n' Trip, the heroes make use of mine carts and automated trains carrying turf-covered platforms to complete the level. In Bombs Away, there is a Mole Guard riding a mine cart in the foreground, throwing bombs and destroying the tracks where the Kongs travel on. They must also to avoid unstable crystal structures in the same level. In Mole Patrol, the primates ride on a Rocket Barrel and try to avoid the pickaxes of Mole Guards on ground and floating Mole Guards released by an automated Mole Train. And in Crowded Cavern, another Rocket Barrel level, the Kongs must to avoid many types of Squeeklies and obstacles while collecting items.
In the boss level, The Mole Train, Donkey and Diddy Kong meet Mole Miner Max and his crew of Mole Miners loading the mine carts with stolen bananas. When Banjo Bottom possesses the mole boss, the primates must face Max and his subordinates aboard mine carts pulled by a steam train.
Enemies found in this world include Mole Guards and Squeeklies.

- This world seems partially based off the Monkey Mines world from Donkey Kong Country.
- This is the only world solely based around not the Kongs, but the vehicles they use.
- This world is almost absent of Tikis, excluding some Tiki Buzzes, Tiki Goons and Banjo Bottom.
- In the Nintendo Wii version, this is the second shortest of worlds, having only seven levels, just behind the Golden Temple. In the Nintendo 3DS version, the Cave is the shortest world.
