Robobī are robot-like insect enemies found in the games Donkey Kong Country Returns and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D. They pursue and try to electrocute the Kongs upon contact.

Overview[]

There are only three of Robobī in both games, and they appear only in the Cliff Key Temple Perilous Passage. They seem to possess electric properties, as they electrocute the primates upon impact. Once they spot the primates, the enemies will fly straight towards Donkey and Diddy Kong and go through walls and platforms to get them. During the second third of the level, two Robobī will constantly pursue the heroes and later they will fly away. In the last third, another Robobī will appear and pursue the Kongs until before a barrel cannon that leads to the upper room with the Rare Orb. Because the primates cannot harm these enemies, Robobī must be avoided to all costs.

Physical Appearance[]

Robobī have blue, reflective eyes, as well as a purple triangular structure between them and a pair of antennae. They have transparent wings which can be seen in rows of two on both sides, equaling to four wings in total. Attached to the thorax, there are two grey arms serving as claws. Robobī have a purple and grey striped abdomen, with the middle gray line having a vertical mark in the middle. On the end of their abdomen, they have a blue stinger.

Trivia[]

  • It is rather strange that the Robobī only appear inside an old, crumbling temple overrun with lava and not even once in the Factory world from the games Donkey Kong Country Returns and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, where there are robot enemies. It is also unknown how they got inside the temple.
