Barrel Shields are hollowed out barrels that have been cut in half and work as shields for the Kongs. They are found exclusively in the games Donkey Kong Country 3 and Donkey Kong Land III.
Overview[]
In Donkey Kong Country 3, Barrel Shields are first found at the vertical ropes inside hollow trees of the stage Barrel Shield Bust-Up of the world Kremwood Forest.
These shields are the only defense against the acorns throw by Minkeys. In fact, there are a few areas that are impossible for Dixie and Kiddy Kong to pass without being in the way of their projectiles. By climbing behind the Barrel Shield, they will be shielded. If they do not face behind the barrel and instead go in front, they will be open for attack. Few barrel shields move, but most are stationary.
